Forestry Crew Supervisor -Ingham
The Position
A permanent position for a Crew Supervisor is required for 38+ hours per week to perform supervision of a work crew undertaking all silvicultural work such as tree planting, weed control, fertilising, fire duties and general plantation maintenance.
Experience in the Silviculture/Forest industry is desired however not essential as all training can be provided to the right applicant.
The position will be based in the Ingham region with some travel required to sites in the Kuranda / Atherton area.

The Duties:
Duties will include:

Supervision of a work crew undertaking - Tree planting, fertilising, weed control and general plantation maintenance

Basic maintenance of equipment used
-
Planning and coordination of staff, equipment & materials used
-
Reporting and quality assessments
-
Hazard reduction burning, wildfire response and surveillance
The Requirements:
The successful applicant must have:
-
Experience in any of the following – Silviculture/forestry, Farming, Horticulture, Vegetation management, outdoor work, crew supervision
-
Good physical fitness with the ability to work outdoors in physically demanding conditions
-
Good time management
-
The proven ability to pass pre-employment and on-going random drug and alcohol testing
-
The ability to implement the Company’s safety, quality, and environmental practices to international standards
-
Minimum “C” class driver licence
Desired Certificates / Experience:

Fire crew member / crew leader
-
MR Licence
-
ACDC Licence
-
Current chainsaw ticket
-
Operate side by side vehicles
-
First Aid
-
Certificate in forest growing and management

Excavator / Tractor Operator - Forestry (South Burnett)
​
K&S Contracting primarily provides silviculture and weed control services to forestry, and local government clients.
We have a casual position available for a excavator operator to operate a 25tonne high track forest machine in the Blackbutt/Yarraman/Nanango area with some travel required, tractor operation slashing/spraying may also form part of this role along with participation in fire duties.
The successful applicant must -
-
Be self-motivated with the ability to work in changing environments including roadsides, plantation forest and steep terrain
-
Have demonstrated experience in excavator operation in vegetation management/bush work.

Be physically fit with the ability to pass a medical clearance and fitness testing for fire duties
-
Pass pre employment drug and alcohol testing along with regular random testing
-
Available to travel as required
-
Implement our certified safety, quality and environmental practices

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Qualifications:
Below qualifications are desirable, training will be provided to the right applicant.

Medium Rigid drivers licence
-
Conduct excavator operations
-
Conduct tractor operations
-
ACDC Licence
-
Fire crew member / crew leader
Experience:
-
Minimum 1 year experience in excator operation or rural machine work
-
Experience in operating in steer terrain.
-
Experience operating in forestry plantations (desirable)
-
Maintenance of machinery
Skills:
-
Self-motivated with the ability to work alone or in a team.

Ability to operate field devices for mapping and daily reporting
